Cortical Perforation Bur for Bone Grafting

In GBR procedures for dental implant surgery, bone surface preparation and grafting usually require the creation of cortical perforations (nutrient holes) to ensure adequate blood supply. This is followed by covering the area with bone graft material and a membrane, which helps promote predictable new bone formation.

The bur head sizes are available in 1.2 mm and 1.4 mm. The recommended operating speed is 700–1000 rpm, and continuous irrigation is required during use to prevent overheating. The choice of bur size and the number of perforations should be determined based on the size of the bone defect and the grafting area.
